Young gun Ben McCrossin was the recipient of the round of the week courtesy of a fine 43pts to win Saturday’s A grade event from the long hitting Brett Howard and Tony Pryce who both had 41pts. A stylish round of one over par was the winning scratch score by Mick Locke.
Glen Buttsworth was the premiere B grader after a solid 40pts gave him a two stroke buffer over Steve Johnson and Michael Meredith after both players had 38pts, the scratch has gone the way of Peter Wray on 24pts.
John Sandra has been in rare form over the last couple of weeks and it seems it is contagious as his 42pts gained the C grade chocolates by three strokes over Trevor Kingham. Lyle Brewster chimed in with 37pts for third and the scratch is in the hands of Mick O’Shea with 20pts.
Thursday’s A grade event posed a bit of a conundrum as Tony Pryce, President Ray Stapley and Ross ‘quince’ Crothers all tied with 40pts, in the end the sweet swinging Pryce hoisted the trophy aloft. Ben Cummings fired even par to win the scratch.
Geoff Tindall has once again proved the virtues of only drinking tomato juice when playing golf, this clean living mantra has paid dividends as he posted 41pts for a slender one shot margin over Mark Nelson. Tony Wells rounded out third on 39pts while the scratch went to Owen Moss with 22pts.
The classy combination of John Nicoll and Al Heagney proved unstoppable in the 2BBB with a combined 48pts leaving them one shot clear of Glyn Daunt and Chris White, three under par saw Darryn Bruce and John Young crowned the scratch winners.
Gary Taylor wound back the clock to the halcyon days after a scintillating 45pts enabled him to win Sunday’s individual stableford from Cris Watson (41) and Kevin Volk (40).
Watson and his lovely wife Kim proved the number one combo in the 2BBB with 50pts for a commanding four shot buffer over Kevin Volk and his equally lovely wife Gabby!
