Last Sunday was the 2nd and last round of our Junior Championships. We had 12 players in the Yellow Division and 4 in the Red Division. The winners were: Yellow Division 1st Scratch – Reece Hodson R/U Scratch – Mike Stanford 1st Nett – Scott Matheson R/U Nett – Daniel Stibbard
1st – Tyler Horton R/U – Brad Glasson All the players competed well, especially the fast improving Cadet Golfers in the Red Division. Next week, Bathurst Golf Club is hosting the NSW Junior Girls Championships and Cowra Golf Club is hosting the Boys. At both clubs the best Junior Golfers from all over the state will be playing. Our representatives are Chantal Hodson and Jane Perfect in the Girls and Reece Hodson, Jarryd Bird and Mike Stanford in the Boys. We wish all our players the best of luck and play well. While I was away on holidays, the Junior Golfers have been very busy Chantal Hodson, went to Victoria as part of the NSW Schools Golf Team. The Girls won the Matchplay, with Chantal winning 2 of her matches and were runner up in the Stroke Play to Queensland. The Championships were played on some of their best courses such as, Moona Links (site of the Australian Open), National and Rosebud. While Chantal was in Victoria, 15 of the Juniors played in the Mudgee Junior Open. At the end of the day, Reece Hodson was the Champion Boy and Jane Perfect, the Champion Girl. The rest played well with Alex Sparks, 17years Scratch runner up, Mike Stanford, 14 years Scratch runner up, Ben Matheson, 13 years Scratch runner up and Daniel Stibbard, 13 years Nett Winner. This weekend, we are off to Duntryleague for the Orange Junior Open. I hope we all play well and enjoy ourselves. Don’t forget, that our Junior Championships are on Sundays 16th and 23rd September at 12 noon each day. 13 Bathurst Juniors played in the Cowra Junior Masters last weekend, 7 in the Main Draw and 6 in the Cadets. Bathurst had a very successful day with Reece Hodson winning the Boys and Chantal Hodson winning the Girls, with Jane Perfect runner up in the Girls. Reece had a 2 over par 73 to win comfortably while Chantal and Jane had to go through the nervous ‘sudden death playoff’ to decide the Champion after they both had 87. In the Cadets, Bradley Glasson had a great nett 32 (after 4 putting the 1st hole) to win and beat Aaron Dodd who had a nett 37. Everybody had a great day on the Bus Trip, the next being to the Mudgee Junior on the 26th August. So get your names up on the list at the Pro Shop. With all the away tournaments, the Sunday Afternoon 9 Hole Comp is still on at 12 noon. With the Holidays on us, the Juniors have already started travelling to Golf Tournaments. Last week, Jane Perfect and Chantal Hodson played in the CHS Golf Championships. Jane played for Western Region and Chantal Payed for Independent Schools. Both played well in the wind and rain at Eden, with Chantal being chosen for the NSW Schools Team. They play in the Australian Championships in Victoria in late August. This week, Reece and Chantal Hodson are playing in the Western Sydney Week of Golf Next week is the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation’s State Age Championships at Tamworth. This is the premier yearly event for most of the Juniors. Bathurst Golf Club has 6 Juniors qualified, they are Reece Hodson, Jarryd Bird, Mike Stanford, Guy Burgess, Jane Perfect and Chantal Hodson. As well as the playing in the ‘Agies’, Reece and Chantal will be playing in the Junior Champion of Club Champions tournament on Monday. We wish them all the best and hope they play well. I know they will be trying. The next round of the Junior Masters will be held at Campbelltown GC on the long weekend. Reece and Chantal Hodson and Jaryd Bird have entered. The Junior State Age Titles are being held during the School Holidays in July at Tamworth and Longyard G C’s. At the moment Reece Hodson, Jaryd Bird, Chantal Hodson & Jane Perfect have entered. Reece and Chantal have now qualified for the Junior Champion of Club Champions to be held on the Monday before the Age Titles. The Sunday Junior Competitions continue at 12 noon on Sundays after being interrupted by the Club Champs. |
